Safeguarding

Black Swan Care Ltd is committed to:

  • Ensuring that the welfare of adults is paramount always

  • Maximising people’s choice, control and inclusion and protecting their human rights

  • Working in partnership with others to safeguard vulnerable adults

  • Ensuring safe and effective working practices are in place.

  • Supporting staff within the organisation.

Safeguarding a vulnerable adult is taken very seriously, not only by Black Swan Care but by all authorities who are charged with the care of an individual.

If anyone suspects that an individual is at risk from a range of abuses including verbal, physical, mental or financial abuse, then it is a duty to report anything that may put that person at risk.

If you are unsure or see something suspicious and do not know what to do, then please CLICK HERE where you will be directed to the Devon County Council's 'Devon Safeguarding Adults Board'.

No Secrets, also known coequally as Adult Safeguarding, was a UK Government publication from the Department of Health which provided guidance on developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures to protect adults deemed "at risk" from harm and/or abuse. The replacement for this document refers to Care Act statutory guidance on Safeguarding in Chapter 14 and can be viewed by clicking HERE.

We keep a copy on file for our staff to access. A copy is included on this page for your information.

You can ask for a copy of Black Swan Care's 'Safeguarding Policy' by clicking HERE. Simply complete the contact form and send.

If you see, hear or suspect that an adult may be at risk of abuse or neglect, you must tell someone about it. If they are in immediate danger contact the police on 999. Otherwise contact Care Direct on 0345 155 1007 or email.

Care Direct is open to take calls between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm Monday to Friday and from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. Outside these hours and on Sundays and Bank Holidays, in emergency only, please contact their Emergency Duty Service on 0845 6000 388 (low-call rate).

Where an adult is, or may be, at risk of harm from abuse or neglect then a Safeguarding Adult referral can be made to Care Direct using the form we have attached.
